We are a non-profit organisation based in Denmark working with locally led partners in East Africa.

Local organisations bring knowledge, experience and community relationships that are essential to developing solutions to the challenges they face. But access to international funding, research, partnerships and wider networks can be difficult.
GHF connects locally led climate and youth initiatives with funding opportunities, research, partnerships and international networks in Denmark, Europe and further.

Locally led, internationally connected

We believe that local knowledge and local leadership should remain at the centre of development work.

Our role is to connect and channel knowledge rather than provide technical expertise ourselves. We bring practical knowledge from local organisations into dialogue with research, funding opportunities and international partners, allowing knowledge and experience to move in both directions.

We work closely with Soil Health and Climate Action Network (SHCAN) in Uganda. SHCAN leads local implementation, community engagement and field-based learning. GHF supports the partnership from Denmark and helps connect this work with wider networks and opportunities.

Our team

Rasmus Lang Tvede Hedegaard

Nolbert R. Muhumuza is a Ugandan social entrepreneur and founder of Giving Hope Foundation. He began his work in community development in Kampala and, from 2018, increasingly focused on supporting rural smallholder farmers in Hoima through sustainable agriculture, soil health and climate resilience. He is also the founder and CEO of Awamu Biomass Energy, where he works to expand access to cleaner cooking solutions in Uganda.

Today, Nolbert combines his experience in community development, sustainable agriculture and clean energy with a strong focus on locally led solutions. He is also the Founder and CEO of the Soil Health & Climate Action Network (SHCAN), which works with smallholder farmers in Uganda to improve livelihoods, build climate resilience and promote sustainable agriculture.

Rasmus Lang Tvede Hedegaard is a Danish project manager with a background in sustainability, international collaboration and the development of EU-funded projects. He has worked with European research and innovation projects, including Horizon Europe and LIFE, with a focus on green transition, stakeholder engagement, communication and translating ideas between research, policy and practice.

Rasmus is Chair of Giving Hope Foundation and works with project development, partnerships, fundraising and international collaboration. At GHF, his role is particularly focused on connecting locally led initiatives in Uganda with European partners, funding opportunities and knowledge networks, and on developing projects that combine local experience with international cooperation.

Organisation and governance

Giving Hope Foundation is a registered Danish non-profit association based in Copenhagen (CVR 44257831).

GHF is governed by its board and works with locally registered partner organisations that retain responsibility for implementation in their own communities. Our approach is based on local leadership, transparency, mutual respect and long-term collaboration.
